Prevention Before Cure
Research shows that traditional lipid testing alone (total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL-cholesterol and HDL-cholesterol) fails to provide critical information that physicians need in order to understand causative factors and effectively treat disease. By simultaneously probing multiple biological pathways that underlie the disease process, our comprehensive advanced laboratory testing can help identify where a patient sits on the disease continuum for cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome.
My Health Counts uses a scientific approach to identify hidden health risks early with Advanced Laboratory Testing and then empowers patients to improve their health using proven engagement strategies.

How We Work With You
Advanced laboratory testing helps medical professionals identify hidden risk markers for cardiovascular disease and diabetes, and improve outcomes for the secondary prevention patient population.
Cardiac Rehab »
Following a cardiovascular event, cardiac rehabilitation clinical teams use our advanced laboratory testing to identify hidden risks for CVD and related conditions, like diabetes, that impact cardiovascular health. This additional information along with patient-centered education can help to improve treatment, prevent another event, and reduce costly re-admissions. Additionally, HDL, Inc. will work with the cardiac rehab team to incorporate and track quality improvement strategies and appropriate outcomes.
Our advanced lab testing and population health improvement model are also ideal for integrated care models, like accountable care organizations (ACOs) or on-site clinics for employer groups with a focus on measurable health outcomes and prevention of disease.
We also work with employer groups to support their company’s health improvement strategy.
Health Outcomes Case Study
In working with cardiac rehab populations, HDL, Inc.’s Advanced Laboratory Testing has helped medical professionals identify hidden risk factors that are not revealed through traditional testing methods. For example, lab results for a group of 99 cardiac rehab patients show that the traditional lipid test with LDL-C indicates only 9% have high risk values.
However, Advanced Laboratory Testing reveals a more complete picture to guide treatment. Some of the additional markers for this same group of cardiac rehab patients show:
- 53% at high risk with the inherited trait Lp(a) which is causally related to cardiovascular disease
- While only a small percentage of LDL levels are elevated, Apo B and LDL-P are increased and are better risk predictors for cardiovascular disease
- Nearly 50% have insulin levels often seen in prediabetes before traditional screening methods would detect risk

Testimonial
“Almost every abnormality indicated by biomarkers on the HDL, Inc. report is correctable, with dietary and lifestyle changes, or drug therapy. This gives the testing incredible value, and is especially satisfying from a provider standpoint as one can actually make a difference.”
