The Employee Experience
- Health Screening
Health information is collected, including Health Profile for nutrition, physical activity and tobacco use, and biometric measurements for height, weight, blood pressure, waist size and body composition.
- Advanced Lab Testing
Blood samples are drawn and sent to Health Diagnostic Laboratory, Inc., where state-of-the-art technology identifies more than 25 hidden risk factors and biomarkers that give actionable data about cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
- Lab Report
A consumer-friendly lab report is sent to each employee’s home address and available online with other digital tools. Results are color-coded red, yellow and green to see risks easily. Test results are confidential by law.
- Health Engagement
Engagement resources to help employees understand their personal risk factors and improve health include:
- Digital tools
- Clinical health consulting and customized health improvement plans
- Health education, like nutrition
- Suggestion to talk with their doctor as appropriate
- Follow-up Testing
Employees participate in a follow-up Health Screening and Advanced Laboratory Testing to see where they have improved and where they need more help.
Health Improvement Outcomes Case Study
In just one year of working with a national employer client, its 1,438 participating employees across 16 locations saw life-changing results. For example, 36% or 511 employees successfully reduced their Body Mass Index (BMI). In addition to weight loss, the lab testing revealed the population's true health risks:
- 44% or 637 employees were at risk for pre-diabetes
- 81% or 1,169 employees were at-risk risk for developing cardiovascular disease
After Clinical Health Consulting and a follow-up screening, we saw significant improvement in these high risk areas. This means a healthier and more productive workforce with lower medical costs and fewer absences for sickness.
My Health Counts led to 98 people reversing their risk for developing diabetes. The American Diabetes Association estimates that managing diabetes for just one year can cost $7,9001. If diabetes had been allowed to progress in these individuals, it potentially could have cost the employer $774,200 per year in additional claims. This estimate does not include further complications associated with the disease, such as kidney failure. Kidney dialysis for one person can cost more than $75,000 a year2.
