Early Detection. Disease Prevention
Too often, health risks are not uncovered until after disease reaches a chronic state. There is good news. Cardiovascular disease and diabetes can be detected early, prevented and even reversed.
My Health Counts from Health Diagnostic Laboratory, Inc. combines Advanced Laboratory Testing with proven engagement strategies to improve your population’s health. Our scientific approach finds hidden risks that traditional testing does not catch, then engages and empowers participants to make healthy lifestyle changes to improve their health.
Our mission is simple: prevent heart disease and diabetes. The outcome is real: better health and lower health care costs.

Cardiovascular disease and diabetes are national epidemics. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that 1 in 3 adults has been diagnosed with cardiovascular disease, and 1 in 3 is predicted to be diabetic by 2050 due to unhealthy lifestyles and obesity. No surprise, health care costs to manage these conditions are out of control. The American Diabetes Association estimates it costs $6,649 to manage diabetes for one person for one year1. And one-third of all health care costs are a result of these two conditions. That’s more than $600 billion annually.
There is good news. Cardiovascular disease and diabetes can be detected early, prevented, and even reversed. Advanced Laboratory Testing gives detailed information about health risks before a devastating and costly event takes place, like a heart attack or stroke. By finding these risks early, individuals are empowered to make changes to improve their health and prevent disease. Prevention of chronic disease is the one proven way to lower health care costs for us all.

Why Advanced Testing?
Traditional laboratory testing methods widely used are failing to find many factors driving chronic disease. Advanced Laboratory Testing reveals hidden risks by identifying multiple biomarkers for chronic disease so appropriate steps can be taken to prevent illness.

Current methods of health assessment are failing to identify more than half of the at-risk population for cardiovascular disease. A recent study in the Journal of the American Medical Association reported that, among men, 62% of all cardiac events happen to individuals that have only one or none of the traditional risk factors for cardiovascular disease and are not considered to be high risk using current assessment methods.
In a recent study published in the American Heart Journal, evaluation of 136,905 cardiovascular disease hospitalizations revealed that 50% had normal traditional lipid results.
Currently, a third of diabetics are undiagnosed and the condition unmanaged The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that diabetes typically develops several years before it is diagnosed in clinical practice.
Health Diagnostic Laboratory, Inc.’s own data reflects the ineffectiveness of traditional screening for risk. A study of 81,506 individuals with optimal lipid panels and LDL cholesterol less than the recommended 100mg/dl demonstrated the following number of additional markers indicating high risk:
Number of High Risk Markers in Patients with Optimal Traditional Lipid Panels
Cumulatively, this data clearly demonstrates that we cannot continue to follow patients with the traditional laboratory assessment and expect to reverse disease incidence or significantly impact the chronic disease epidemic.
