The physicians, researchers, and leaders in disease management at HDL, Inc. have a desire to impact their community – both inside the laboratory and out.   It Starts with the Heart marks an ongoing initiative in which HDL, Inc. will demonstrate continued corporate giving through both financial contribution and a commitment by its employees to volunteer with local organizations.  By supporting organizations like Medical Home Plus, for example, HDL, Inc. has helped carry out the mission of various nonprofit’s to improve the quality of life for others.   It Starts with the Heart was designed to not only place HDL, Inc.’s family of employees in the community, but to encourage those organizations that HDL, Inc. partners with to support others in carrying forward spontaneous acts of kindness and assistance in their own neighborhoods.  HDL, Inc. looks for organizations that arm others with the support and resources they need to eventually go out and help others in return.  HDL, Inc. sees this as a chain of connectivity that “starts with the heart.”

Future events planned for It Starts with the Heart   include “Over the Edge,” a fundraiser for Special Olympics Virginia.  HDL, Inc. co-founder, Russ Warnick, will rappel down the tallest building in Richmond to raise money and awareness for the nonprofit organization.  HDL, Inc. continues to look for other engaging ways to contribute to the community and seeks your suggestions.
